Introduction

This facilitator guidebook was originally created while I was working at BCA Financial Services to support the delivery of an instructor-led training course. The guidebook was designed to help facilitators lead sessions with confidence and consistency, providing clear structure, presentation references, talking points, and preparation tips.

My Role

I designed this guidebook from the ground up—structuring the content, formatting the layout, and creating all support materials with the facilitator experience in mind. After using this version successfully, I developed a standardized template based on this original design, which became the foundation for all future ILT facilitator guides used across the organization.

Purpose of the Guidebook

This guidebook was created to support facilitators in confidently delivering a consistent instructor-led training session. It includes detailed slide previews, facilitation scripts, preparation checklists, and visual cues—all designed to minimize prep time and support smooth, engaging delivery.

Content Development

Each page of the guide corresponds with a slide in the accompanying presentation. For every slide, I included:

  • A visual preview of the slide

  • Key talking points

  • Notes on timing and transitions

  • Prompts for activities or learner engagement

 

The guide also opens with a structured Facilitator Welcome, Preparation Checklist, and a brief overview of how to use the guide—ensuring facilitators are fully supported before, during, and after the session.

Instructional Considerations

The design was intentional and scalable. I used a clean, modular layout that’s easy to navigate in real time and clear enough for facilitators with varying levels of experience. This original guidebook later served as the model for a standardized ILT guide template used across all future instructor-led training at BCA.

The guidebook includes slide-by-slide facilitation notes, visual previews of each presentation slide, speaking prompts, and timing cues—designed to walk facilitators through the session step-by-step with minimal prep required. It opens with a facilitator welcome, preparation checklist, and guidance on how to use the resource effectively in a live training setting.

This project highlights my ability to create practical, easy-to-use support materials for instructor-led training—designed to empower facilitators, enhance consistency, and improve the overall learning experience. From structuring content to anticipating facilitator needs, I focused on building a guide that could stand on its own while supporting a broader training strategy.

It’s been especially rewarding to see this guide evolve into a standardized template used across all ILT courses at BCA—evidence of how thoughtful design can scale and make a lasting impact on learning operations.
